Why do nurses need Buddy?
Nurses play a critical role in Primary Health Care delivery, often being the first and only health professional patients see.
However, our studies prove that 37% of a nurse day is spent fetching equipment they need in connection with care situations.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that the world will need an additional 9 million nurses and midwives by 2030. On top of this, the population is aging, and the need for health services increases.
An international survey of 2,500 nurses in July 2022 reported that 64% of nurses are looking to leave the healthcare profession, a nearly 40% increase from the surveys conducted in 2021. Three-quarters of those surveyed admitted having experienced burnout, experienced trauma, extreme stress or PTSD.
Nurses walk an average of 10,000 steps per shift, spending time away from their patients. At Yuman, we have introduced Buddy, a robot assistant, specifically designed to support nurses and other healthcare professionals, allowing them to spend more time with their patients. Buddy is an autonomous mobile robot that transports equipment healthcare professionals need, such as PIVC, blood samples, medicine, linen, blood sample equipment, etc. With just one click, healthcare professionals can call Buddy, directly from the patient room. Buddy then safely drives around the hospital corridor, among patients and staff, to deliver the equipment.
